System Requirements
Before setting up the VPN, be sure your installation is up–to–date by running Windows Update.
Open Control Panels
First, double-click on ‘My Computer’. Then double–click on “Control Panel ’.

Open Dial–Up Networking
The display will look like one of the two screens below. Double–click on ‘Dial–Up Networking’.


Start the Wizard
When the Dial–Up Networking folder opens, double–click on ‘Make New Connection’. You should see the “Welcome to Dial–Up Networking” screen. Click the ‘Next’ button to continue.

Set Location Information
Depending on your configuration, you might see the ‘Location Information’ screeen. If the screen appears, type your area code into the top box, and leave the second box empty. Then click ‘Close’ to continue.

Name the Connection
Next, type ‘PublicVPN.com’ for the name of the computer you are dialing. Make sure your window looks like the one below, then click the ‘Next’ button.

Enter the PublicVPN.com host name
On this screen, type ‘gateway.publicvpn.net’ and click the ‘Next’ button. ‘gateway.publicvpn.net’ is the host name of the PublicVPN.com server.

You're Done!
Next, click the ‘Finish’ button to complete the configuration. You’re done!

New icon in Dial–Up Networking
When the wizard exits, you should see your new VPN connection in the Dial–Up Networking folder.

Set up connection settings
Next, we'll set up the connection settings. Double–click on the new connection, and you will see a window that looks like the one below:
In the yellow ‘User Name’ box, enter your PublicVPN.com username. In the green ‘Password’ box, enter your PublicVPN.com password. Optionally, click ‘Save Password’ to save your password as part of the connection. That's it!
When you want to connect
When you want to connect to PublicVPN.com, just double–click on the connection and click the ‘Connect’ button. You'll see the following screens while you connect:
Your computer is verifying your PublicVPN.com username and password.

Your computer is logging on to the PublicVPN.com network

Your computer successfully logged on to PublicVPN.com!

Congratulations! Your connection is now secure!
